Logitech MX Master 3S Mouse Review: A Powerful Productivity Mouse for Mac and Windows
If you want a mouse that feels premium, works across multiple devices, and helps you move faster in everyday work, the Logitech MX Master 3S is one of the best options available. After using it for a couple of months, it’s easy to see why so many people recommend it for productivity, creative work, and office setups.
What You Get in the Box
Inside the box, you’ll get the mouse and a USB charging cable. Charging is done from the front of the mouse, which is a big deal because it means you can keep using it while it charges (as long as your cable can reach your setup).
Front Charging = Better Daily Use
Front charging is one of those small design choices that makes a big difference. You can plug the cable in and keep working, instead of being forced to stop using the mouse while it charges.
Logitech Bolt Receiver (Included)
The MX Master 3S also comes with a Logitech Bolt receiver. This is useful if your computer doesn’t have Bluetooth, or if you prefer using a receiver for a steady connection.
- Great for desktops or older laptops without Bluetooth
- Connect up to three Logitech devices to one receiver
- Helpful if you use a Logitech keyboard and mouse together
Connect Up to Three Devices and Switch in Seconds
One of the standout features of the Logitech MX Master 3S is the ability to connect to up to three devices. On the bottom of the mouse, there are three device slots. You can switch between them by pressing the button.
This makes it ideal if you work across:
- a Mac and a Windows PC
- a laptop and a desktop
- a computer and an iPad (or even a phone)
Side Scroll Wheel: Perfect for Timelines and Wide Pages
The MX Master 3S includes a horizontal scroll wheel on the side. If you never scroll sideways, you might not use it much. But if you work in software that has wide layouts, it can be a huge time-saver.
For example, in video editing you can use the side wheel to move through your timeline smoothly, instead of dragging along the bottom bar.
Buttons and the Gesture Button
Along with the main left and right click, the MX Master 3S has extra buttons that can improve workflow. There are two side buttons, plus a gesture button that many people don’t notice at first.
The gesture button can be customized to match how you work, which is great if you like shortcuts or want faster control inside apps.
Scroll Wheel Modes: Fast Free-Spin or Normal Scrolling
The main scroll wheel has a feature that many people love: when you scroll quickly, it can switch into a free-scrolling mode that keeps spinning. This is helpful when you’re moving through long pages or big documents.
If you want more control, you can switch it back to a normal scroll feel using the button near the wheel. It gives you the option of speed or precision depending on what you’re doing.
The One Issue to Know About
The biggest downside mentioned is simple: while the mouse can be used during charging, that only works well if your charging cable can comfortably reach your workspace. If you don’t have a USB port nearby, charging can become inconvenient.
A practical tip is to charge it when you know you’ll be away from your computer, or before it gets too low, so you’re not stuck needing it while it’s plugged in across the desk.
Is the Logitech MX Master 3S Worth It?
If you’re looking for a high-quality mouse built for productivity, the Logitech MX Master 3S is an excellent choice. The ability to switch between three devices, the side scroll wheel for horizontal movement, and the smart scroll wheel behavior all make it feel like a mouse designed for real work.
Best for: productivity, video editing, multitasking, office work, and anyone using both Mac and Windows.
Overall, it’s a strong upgrade from a standard mouse and a great fit for people who want comfort, speed, and better control during daily computer use.
### Introduction Hey everybody, it’s Josh from Cap Unpacked. Today I’m going to be showing you the brand-new MX Master 3 series mouse. This mouse has been awesome. I’ve been using it for a couple of months now, and I have to say it’s been the best mouse I’ve used. ### What’s in the Box When you get this mouse, it also comes with an awesome USB cable. It’s mainly a cable made just for charging. To charge it, you plug it into the front. A really awesome thing I like about charging it from the front is that you can continue to use your mouse while it’s charging. So, if you have a monitor with a USB port, you can keep using your mouse—unlike the Apple Magic Mouse, where you have to plug it into the bottom for some reason. ### Bolt Receiver Another thing it comes with is the Bolt receiver. I think the Bolt receiver retails for $35 Australian, but it’s included. If your computer doesn’t support Bluetooth, you can plug this into the back of your computer. You can connect up to three Logitech devices at once, so you can connect the mouse to it and also connect your keyboard, which I reviewed in the last video. If you want to check out the Logitech Mechanical Mini, just check the description below or the info card right here. ### Connecting to Multiple Devices One of the most awesome features I’ve found with this mouse is that you can connect it to up to three devices. At the very bottom (I’m covering up the serial number), you can see the three device slots. If I press this button, you can see I’m currently connected to my Mac. If I want to switch to my Windows computer, all I have to do is click the button again, and you can see I’m on Windows. I don’t have a third computer, but if I did, I could connect it to something like an iPad or even my phone if I wanted to. That’s one of the best features I’ve found with this mouse. ### Side Scroll Wheel and Buttons Another great feature is the horizontal scrolling wheel on the side. If you don’t use a lot of programs that require swiping across or moving sideways by dragging the bar at the bottom, it probably won’t be useful to you. But if you do use those programs, it’s awesome. For me, with video editing, I can slide through my timeline using the side scroll wheel. You can see on the screen I’ve got an example of how it works. It’s super useful. You also have your two buttons here. Another button I didn’t know about until the other day is the gesture button. You can customize this to whatever you like. ### Scroll Wheel Feature Another interesting feature is the scroll wheel behavior. When you scroll a lot, it just keeps scrolling—it doesn’t stop. I don’t know if you can see it on camera, but it just keeps going. I can stop it, but it has this free-scrolling feature. You can disable it by clicking this button here. Then it behaves like a normal scroll. But once you start scrolling a lot, it does that free-spin thing again. ### One Issue I’ve Had The only issue I’ve had with this mouse is that when you charge it, you kind of can’t use it—depending on your setup. I did say before that you can plug the cable into the front and use it, but if you don’t have any USB ports near your computer, you basically can’t use your mouse while it’s charging. So, if you use your mouse a lot, make sure you charge it when it’s almost about to die, and when you know you’ll have time where you won’t be using your computer. ### Closing This mouse is absolutely awesome. I’ve loved using it, and it’s so much better than my last mouse. If you do want to purchase this mouse, I’ve left a link in the description. It might be an affiliate link—it might not, because I’m applying for that—but if you click on that link, it will support the channel if it is affiliated. Also, if you did enjoy the video, don’t forget to leave a like and subscribe to the channel. I can’t wait to see you in the next video. See you!
