Hey everyone! Welcome back to another guide where I’ll walk you through a cool trick to speed up time in Minecraft. Ever wanted the sun to race across the sky in your blocky world? Well, you’re in the right place! Today, we’ll explore how you can make days pass faster in Minecraft using simple commands. Let’s dive right in so you can watch those beautiful Minecraft sunsets twice as fast.

Getting Started: Fetching the Command Block

Before we start tinkering with time, you’ll need a command block. This magical block will act as our key to manipulating the game’s clock. Here’s how to get it:

  • Open your command terminal in Minecraft. On Java Edition, press ‘T’ to open the chat window. For Bedrock Edition, tap the chat bubble at the top of your screen.
  • Type out the command: /give @s command_block. The @s is a selector that targets yourself, but you can replace @s with any player’s name to give them a command block.
  • On platforms where you need to type manually, such as Bedrock, ensure the spelling is exact. Once entered, hit ‘Enter’ and voilà, you’ve got yourself a command block!

Setting Up the Command Block

Now that you have the command block, let’s set it to speed up time:

  1. Place the command block on the ground.
  2. Open the command block’s interface by right-clicking (or tapping, if on mobile).
  3. In the command input field, type: /time add 1t. This command tweaks the time in-game using “ticks” (Minecraft measures time in ticks, where 20 ticks equal one second).
  4. Set the block to ‘Repeat’ and ‘Always Active’ to keep the command running continuously, making the sun zoom across the sky!

Watch as time accelerates! If you want things to really speed up, change the number in the command. For example, /time add 10t will make the day pass at an exhilarating pace.

Smoothing Out the Experience

As you experiment with time manipulation, you’ll notice the chat spams every time the command runs. This can get annoying quickly, so here’s how to mute it:

  • Open the command terminal again.
  • Type /gamerule commandBlockOutput false. This command stops the game from displaying each tick addition in the chat.

No more chat clutter! You can now enjoy your fast-forwarded Minecraft experience without distraction.

Why Speed Up Time?

You might wonder why speeding up time is beneficial. Here are a few reasons:

  • Fast-forward the builders in you: See the results of your large-scale builds as shadows and lights shift rapidly.
  • Efficient resource farming: Automate farms and watch crops grow, and animals spawn or mature at a quicker rhythm.
  • Accelerated adventure: Skip the night for safer travels or enjoy a continuous cycle of day and night for added challenge.

Switching Off the Command

When you’ve had your fill of speedy days, or if the flashing begins to make filming tricky or gameplay too hectic, simply break the command block. You can do this by:

  • Locating the command block that executes the time change command.
  • Breaking it by hitting it in-game, which will effectively stop the fast-forwarding time effect.

Wrapping It Up

That’s it for today’s tutorial on how to speed up time in Minecraft! It’s a simple yet exciting way to add a new twist to your Minecraft sessions. Have fun with this trick and let your imagination run wild as you experiment with speeding up your world’s time.

Video Transcript

Hey everybody, it’s UnderMyCap and welcome back to another video! Today, I’m going to be showing you how to make days in Minecraft go much quicker. As you can see, the sun is actually moving a lot faster. So without further ado, let’s get straight into this video. First of all, what we need is a command block. To get a command block, we will need to use the command terminal. If you’re on Bedrock, simply hit the little chat bubble at the top. We want to type in “/give @s command_block.” You can also specify your player or any other player if you want to give them a command block. Once you’ve typed that in, hit enter, and you’re given a command block. The second step of this tutorial, and it’s pretty simple because it involves only one command, is using the time command. Once you place your command block down, open up the terminal and type in “/time add.” You’ll see a few other options, but we are just going to focus on “add.” Next, we are going to add “1.” Now, once you do this, a few things will pop up: ‘d,’ ‘s,’ and ‘t.’ Here, ‘d’ stands for day, ‘s’ stands for seconds, and ‘t’ I believe refers to ticks. What we want to do right now is use ‘t.’ You can see that, once we do this, there’s nothing else you can add in the command. Make sure you don’t have any spaces in front of it, as sometimes that can cause issues. Set the command block to “Repeat” and “Always Active.” You will see that the sun is indeed moving a bit faster than normal. If I turn this off just to show you what it looks like, you’ll see that with the command block off, it’s not actually glitching. To exaggerate this more, let’s set it to 10, and you can observe that the sun is moving extremely fast, speeding up the day. You may also notice my chat in the bottom left corner going crazy. To turn that off, as I know it will drive many of you nuts, we need to go into the command chat again and simply type in “/gamerule commandBlockOutput false.” This will prevent the command from spamming our chat. Now you can see where the sun is—wow, the day is actually going by super fast! We’re heading into sunset, and before you know it, we’ll be at night time. Let’s see—wow, now we are at night. I do have full brightness on my Minecraft client, so everything looks a bit brighter, but you can see we’re in nighttime, and the moon is moving very quickly. Let’s try it with ‘s,’ which I believe corresponds to seconds. Whoa, hang on, the day is going really quickly! It’s like a stop-motion film. But yeah, that is the command in a nutshell. I’m going to turn this off now because I believe the video may be difficult to film with all this flashing. Let’s break that command block. If you enjoyed the video, don’t forget to leave a like and subscribe! I can’t wait to see you in the next video. Also, let me know in the comments what I should do next!
