Minecraft Just Added Painting! Everything You Need to Know About the New Paint Add-On

If you love getting creative in Minecraft, you are going to want to hear about this. There is a brand new paint add-on available for Bedrock Edition, and it opens up a whole world of colourful possibilities. In this post we will walk through exactly how it works, what you can do with it, and why it might just become your new favourite way to decorate your builds.

What Is the Minecraft Paint Add-On?

The paint add-on is an extra download you can grab from the Minecraft Marketplace store. Once you load into a world with it, you will spawn with a special item called the paint add-on book. All you have to do is place it on the ground to open it up and read through the instructions.

The book acts as your guide. You interact to move to the next page, and you sneak plus interact to go back to the previous one. It is a simple way to learn everything you need before you start painting.

How to Get Started with Painting

Getting set up is really easy. Here are the basic steps:

  • Craft an empty paintbrush.
  • Craft an empty bucket.
  • Add dye to the bucket to give it colour.
  • Dip your paintbrush into the paint bucket to pick up the colour.
  • Start painting everything around you.

To make a coloured paint bucket, you simply place the empty bucket into a crafting table and add your chosen dye next to it. For example, adding orange dye will give you an orange paint bucket. The best part is that it is animated, so you actually see the paintbrush dip into the bucket before you use it.

Does It Add New Blocks or Just Change Colours?

One of the first questions many players ask is whether this adds extra blocks to the game. The answer is that it mostly changes the colour of existing blocks rather than adding new ones. So you are recolouring the world rather than building with brand new items.

Painting Animals and Entities

Here is where things get fun. You can paint entities too. Pigs, for example, can be turned into any colour you like. Not every mob works the same way though. Sheep cannot be painted since their wool already handles colour differently. But painting a pig a bright new shade is quick and easy.

Cleaning Up Your Mistakes

Made a mess? No problem. There are two tools to help you clean up:

  • Cleaning sponge: This has unlimited uses and can even clean out your paint bucket so you can reuse it.
  • Cleaning rag: Crafted with wool, this lasts for 100 uses.

Both tools let you convert painted blocks and entities back to their original state, so you never have to worry about permanent changes.

Premium Tools and Extra Features

The add-on also comes with some premium options that make painting faster and more powerful:

  • Premium paintbrush: This gives you 64 uses instead of the standard 16, which is great for survival mode.
  • Paint roller: This paints a 3×3 area at once, perfect for covering large spaces quickly. You could even create a full biome of blue grass if you wanted to.
  • Paintballs: These are one of the coolest features. You just throw them and they paint a 3×3 area on impact.

Paintballs Are a Blast

The paintballs are seriously fun to use. Grab a colour, throw it, and watch it splash across blocks. You can even hit other players or mobs with them, and they will turn that colour on impact. It is a brilliant way to add some quick colour to trees, walls, or anything else you can aim at.

A Few Things to Note

Painting over an area that is already painted will not merge the colours together. Instead the new colour simply replaces the old one. Also, it does not look like you can dye water with this add-on, so keep that in mind while you plan your projects.

Final Thoughts

The paint add-on is a really creative and fun way to bring more colour into your Minecraft world. Whether you want to decorate your builds, recolour your animals, or have a paintball battle with friends, there is plenty to enjoy here. You can find this paint add-on in the Minecraft Marketplace.

If you enjoyed learning about this new feature, why not give it a try in your own world? Have an awesome day everyone, and happy painting!

Video Transcript

Hey everybody, it's Undercap and welcome back to another video where today we are looking at the brand new paint plugin inside of Bedrock. So, this is an additional like add-on that you can get from the marketplace store. And first of all, when you spawn into world with this add-on, we get this interesting item called paint add-on book. And we have to place it on the ground to open. I think we may as well do that. So, I'm going to place it on the ground.Awesome. Wow. So, this is pretty cool. So, interact for next page. Sneak. I didn't read that. Interact for next page. Sneak plus interact for previous page.Step one, craft the empty paintbrush. And then we have to craft the empty bucket with the paintbrush. And then we simply just put dye in the bucket.Step four. Interact with the empty paint brush to take paint from the paint bucket and then paint everything. Now, I'm interested to see does this add extra blocks or is it more of it just manipulates the color of the block. It looks like it just will manipulate the color of the block. Let's go ahead and Wow, there's a lot of different premium paintbrush. Then you can craft a sponge. So, you just put a sponge in and it gives you a sponge and you can clean blocks with the sponge. You can craft a cleaning rag with wool. While a cleaning sponge has unlimited uses, a cleaning rag lasts for 100 uses. You can paint entities. Some painted. Hello. That pig's going to be the first one that we paint. However, remember that you can always use the cleaning sponge or the cleaning rag to convert back.Blah blah blah. Oh, here we come to the premium stuff. A craft a premium paintbrush. It has 64 uses instead of 16. So, if you do craft a paintbrush, it does break—so you do 64 uses.Wow, paintballs. You can make paintballs. A paint roller. Please leave us a review. Great. Let's dive straight into this and then we'll look at the paintballs right after. So, first of all, we have an empty paintbrush. We have an empty bucket. I'm also going to grab some dye. Where do you find dye? Dyes. Here we are.Let's go for orange. I reckon orange is cool. And we'll also need to grab a crafting table as well.Perfect. Okay. So, we're going to put the paint bucket into the crafting table. And we're going to put the dye next to it. And just like that, we created an orange paint bucket. So, it's animated. So, do we just dip? Okay, we dip it. That's really cool. We dip the paintbrush into the paint bucket and then we can paint stuff. And we can paint animals as well. I wonder if with sheep it's just it changes its wool. You can't paint a sheep. But you can paint a pig. Now, let's try a few different colors. I'm going to get a blue paintbrush. We're going to use the premium paintbrush. So, this one should allow you in survival to paint more.We have paint. Now, if you paint on top of paint, does it merge the colors? No, it does not.We have made an absolute mess. So, let's see what the rags do. I'm going to go up and grab a light blue or cyan cleaning rag.Look. So, we can clean that off. The sponge cleans out the bucket as well. So, if you need the bucket to be clean, you can just do that. And then voila, now we've got an empty paint bucket. We also have these paint rollers. These paint a 3×3. If you want to paint an area of stuff really fast, you can do that. It looks like it pulls up everything off the grass. If you want to have a biome with a whole bunch of grass that's blue, you can do that. Now, the last feature, which I am so interested in, is paintball. So, I'm going to get a yellow paintball. And apparently, you just throw it. You just throw it and it paints a 3×3.Honestly, I was expecting it to be a bit more random. But that is cool. So, you can throw it at stuff. Actually, I just realized this would be such a cool plugin to color trees. Can you dye water? I don't think so.Can we dye you if I hit you with this? It looks like you did. Yeah, look, you got colored. I'll paint you blue. You can just throw it. If you get hit, you get turned into it.Now, this is actually a really cool and creative plugin. If you did enjoy this video, make sure to leave a like and subscribe. This plugin is a paint plugin um that you can get in the marketass. So, have an awesome day everyone. See you.
