Minecraft – The Beginning: Starting a Brand New Chill Series

Hey everybody! Welcome back to a completely different kind of video. Today we are taking things back to basics and starting a brand new Minecraft series. This one is all about slowing down, relaxing, and enjoying the game the way it used to feel back in the good old days.

Why I Wanted to Go Back to Minecraft

I have loved Minecraft for as long as I can remember. I used to play it constantly when I was younger, and it holds so many special memories for me. To bring back that nostalgia, I even managed to install the old textures into Minecraft Bedrock. Everything looks classic and cosy, and it makes the whole experience feel just right.

My main time playing Minecraft was on the Xbox 360. I wasn’t allowed to play it on a computer back then, so the Xbox became my whole world. I remember the excitement of new updates almost every week. The day hoppers were added was honestly amazing because I loved building redstone contraptions, even if half of them didn’t make much sense!

Losing the Magic (and Finding It Again)

Over the years, I sadly lost interest in Minecraft. For a long time I felt pressured to make tutorial content. I did enjoy it, but it started to feel like the same thing on repeat, and it began to feel like a chore instead of fun.

I also got pulled into Rec Room, which is another super creative platform. I met so many awesome friends there and even had a few of my games featured, which was really cool. But between work, uni, and everything else, I was time poor and just couldn’t find the joy in Minecraft anymore.

There is also so much oversaturated content out there now. All the speedruns, the 100 day challenges, and the heavily edited videos. I don’t want to diss anyone, because people are doing an amazing job, but it all felt a bit overwhelming to me. That’s when I thought, why not just play Minecraft the way I used to? Grab a controller, keep it chill, and simply enjoy it.

Diving Into Our New World

So we jumped straight in on controller, which brings back that authentic feeling (batteries dying and all!). The world greeted us with adorable foxes, a lovely little river, and plenty of spruce trees. It’s one of my favourite biomes to build in.

Early on we gathered wood, dug in for the night, and found some coal to make torches. Then came a fun discovery: copper is now useful for making upgraded tools! I crafted my very first copper pickaxe, sword, and chest plate. It mines fast and looks great with the old texture pack.

Surviving the Night

Nighttime in Minecraft is still scary! We ran into loads of creepers (which glitch a little with the old textures), skeletons, and even some drowned coming out of the water. We managed to grab a couple of bones and arrows, and I even saved an adorable baby cow along the way.

Food was a bit of a struggle. Berries became a handy snack, even if they do try to hurt you constantly. I made the classic mistake of leaving my cooking chicken far away while starving, but we powered through.

Building Our First Home

We found the perfect spot to set up base camp near the river with mountains in the distance. Using the trees as a natural frame, we built a tall little starter house. It is not the prettiest home ever, with a fern growing in the floor and a slightly messy cobblestone roof, but we have a roof over our heads and that is what counts.

Quick tip I rediscovered: you can place blocks more efficiently by clicking just in front of the block. Little things like that make building so much smoother.

A Little Life Lesson

While playing, I got a bit reflective. Sometimes things pop up in your life that you don’t expect, and they can take a long time to fix. But with the right help and the right resources, you can always get through those tough times. Minecraft has a funny way of reminding you of that.

Let’s Grow This World Together

I really want this to become a proper series where you all can contribute ideas and ask me to build things. Your feedback means so much to me.

If you know anything about how the new ore spawning works, please drop a comment because I would love to learn! And if you enjoyed this chill approach, please leave a like and let me know your thoughts.

Thank you so much for watching. I can’t wait to see you in the next video!

Video Transcript

Hey everybody, it’s Unmcap and welcome back to another video. Today I’m doing something completely different. I’m taking it step back. I’m trying to start a brand new series on this channel and I don’t know if it will go well, but we’re going to see. So, I love Minecraft. I used to play it so much when I was younger and I just love kind of the good old days of using Minecraft. You can actually see that I’ve managed to, if I can figure out how to use this, install the old textures into Minecraft Bedrock. And I just want to play this super chill.I see a lot of YouTube videos online of all these people kind of trying to speedrun Minecraft and do like absolutely crazy stuff in Minecraft. And like, you know, all those videos are so overedited and I just thought, you know what, let’s just start a brand new series where it’s kind of super chill. It can take like days maybe let’s say to build a house or something but just kind of try to make a really cool super new world I guess. We are diving straight in. So you can see I am actually on controller because I actually started playing Minecraft on well first of all I probably started playing Minecraft on like a mobile phone when it first started. But my main time playing Minecraft was 100% on the Xbox 360. At the time I wasn’t allowed Minecraft on like a like a computer or anything like that. It was mainly just Xbox 360. And of course I had restrictions when I was younger.Oh my god, look at this. So cute. I love the foxes. But yeah, so Minecraft huge thing for me when I was younger. I remember they did this like thing where they updated the game. I swear like every week or something and I was so excited. Like every week I would hop on there would be a new update. I still remember the day that hoppers were added. That was actually such a cool day because I used to be quite involved in redstone and I used to make all these redstone contraptions that actually probably didn’t make a lot of sense. But still, yeah, Minecraft was super exciting. I’d always hop on.I’ve noticed over the years since I created my first Minecraft video. I lost interest in Minecraft, which is pretty sad. Um, and I never thought that I would ever say that because Minecraft has been such an amazing game for me. I’m such a creative person. I’m sure everyone watching is super creative, but Minecraft is just one of those games which it’s up to what you want to do.I felt pressured for such a long time to actually make tutorial content and over time I did enjoy making tutorial content. Love it so much. I just it just became the same thing on repeat and I kind of lost that magic that Minecraft used to have. Like it felt like a chore when I hop on.You probably noticed the past few months in fact maybe year I actually haven’t been posting a lot of Minecraft. I jumped into rec room. Which again is such a creative platform as well. I feel like I should have kept some of that wood. I feel like I’m screwing this up. I don’t know how much wood I need. Sorry, where was I? Rec. Yes.Super creative game. I have met so many awesome friends through that platform and I’ve been able to keep in contact with them. There’s so many creative people on that platform and yeah, I kind of got pulled away from it. Hang on. We’re keeping these. So yeah, so that’s kind of what happened. I got pulled along. Don’t get me wrong, like I’ve loved my experience building and creating games. I actually got a few games featured on that platform, which is super cool.I know probably some of you that I’ve met are probably maybe viewing this video. It’s really cool being able to meet people all over the world. But yeah, where was I actually going with that? Yes, I got sidetracked. I fell in love with Reck Room, kind of moved away from Minecraft and then I got stuck in this sticky situation where I was time poor. I had work, I had uni. Fun fact everyone, I did my last exam for the semester today. So, I am fully off the hook.I had to do a law exam and I’m not even doing law. I’m a marketing student. But yeah, I’m finished with that. I was time poor at the time and I just couldn’t really see any fun in Minecraft at that time. I was mainly focused on rec room. I was overwhelmed with all the saturated content on Minecraft. I don’t know if you’ve seen all of those videos and stuff, it’s just a lot of like overedited saturated content. Please don’t get me wrong, people are doing an amazing job at creating content and I don’t want to diss any of their content cuz it is successful, but I do find it a bit overwhelming. Overedited. I do love editing myself, but I really struggled to actually hop onto the overediting train or just it’s supposed to be fun.Whoa. What is happening with my controller? Uh-oh. We’re going to continue. My control the controller’s not in sync. Let’s just fix this. I’m taking the controller batteries out. This is what I miss about the controller. Like you get those authentic experiences that like you forgot about. I like remember when I was younger, I would run out of batteries. I swear I’m damaging my controller right now. I would run out of batteries and I’d literally run around the house trying to find any. And if you didn’t have any batteries, your game time’s over.I know PS5 and PS4 have had like rechargeable controllers, but I just love the Xbox controller. I think that fixed it. It’s probably really dark on your screen. Is it because it’s turning nighttime?Okay, let’s craft a stone sword. I think I see my first zombie. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Holy moly. One thing. It looks like I’m going to have to do the classic cave myself in. And let’s just quickly make it a bit bright. Well, it looks like we’re going to struggle for a little bit, I guess. Okay, that’s fine.We just need coal. We’ve got plenty of wood. But we just need coal. I’m going to see if I can brighten the screen up for you guys watching because this is pretty dark. But yeah, I love this texture pack. It makes everything look older. Obviously all the new resources do not get updated with the old texture pack cuz it makes sense. It’s an old texture pack. But yeah, it is just super cool adding to this.Where was I talking from before? I was talking about moving on. Oh yes, oversaturated content. So I love watching Minecraft content, but it just feels like it’s very repetitive and very like intense. Um you know, all those 100 day videos, there’s so many of them and it’s like, do I want to contribute to that and make another video and spend hours doing that?Again with the tutorials, there’s heaps of awesome people that are making awesome tutorials online on how to teach you with like Minecraft commands and stuff. But yeah, it’s super saturated. So, do I want to make the same videos which people can already access or do I want to maybe start something more original? So, this is kind of like a let’s play, I think. Super chill. I’m just going to talk through this. I’m going to see if I can get coal. Okay, we have some coal guys. I can’t see if there’s any more coal. But let’s craft some torches.Thank you guys for staying patient with the brightness problems. This is looking very nice. And copper. This isn’t something to do with old Minecraft, but you can use copper now to make upgraded items. So, I don’t know if that means that iron’s less rare. No, more rare. Would iron be more rare if copper exists? I don’t know. For context, I have my amazing cat right next to me. He is keeping an eye on me to make sure that I don’t go insane in Minecraft. Can we mine copper with a stone pickaxe? We can. Wow. So, you can mine copper with a stone pickaxe and it looks like it gives you a lot.Oh, we’ve got campfires as well. I forgot about that. Let’s make a furnace. Do you remember the old look of the furnace? Look at that. That’s so cool. We’re going to put the coal in. And we’re going to put the copper in. Let’s take half. Will it need more than half? Let’s take like some coal for ourselves and make some more torches. This is so I love this texture so much. Um, let’s just mine through here. Also, I have no clue how the new ore spawning works. If you guys know anything about how the new ore spawns, please let me know in the comments. I will read them and I will make sure that I try to apply what you say about that in the description. We have four copper ingots. Very nice.Let’s make our first copper item ever. This is the first ever copper item I’ve made. A pickaxe. So, I wonder, can you mine diamond? Oh, that’s fast. That’s nice. Okay. Does it wear out faster? I don’t know.I’m loving this new Minecraft music as well. It’s very calm to play along with.Major disconnection. There’s like random lag spikes. I don’t know if you can see this. It’s inconvenient, but that’s okay.We don’t need an axe yet. We’re going to be cautious. We’re going to get a copper sword because I’m hopeless at protecting myself, especially on a controller. And let’s just get like a chest plate.Honestly, I’m looking pretty kitted out so far. We got a nice like copper chest plate. We also have nice copper pickaxe as well. I’m liking the new color.Let’s leave that to cook and keep on. Surely it’s daytime. How fast does a day takes? Night’s 20 minutes. Day is like 40 minutes. In fact, if that’s finished, let’s just take that up with us. Not finished yet, but let’s just chuck that in our pockets. We’ve got hunger to deal with as well.It is turning daytime. We just made it in time. So what do we need to do? Let’s place our furnace right back on the ground. And let’s just pop our coal and our copper back in.Now, I want to explore this area. It looks quite nice here. We’ve got like a little river. Little river. Actually, this is amazing. Look at this river. There is a glitch when I’m using this old texture pack, we do have a bit of a glitch with the creepers. This is like starting our journey. We need a dog. We need a dog. That’s a creeper. We need a skeleton. That’s another creeper. I don’t like how many creepers there are again. We also need food. Oh, berries. Yes, berries. They are actually a really useful addition. I always tend to eat berries because they’re just super accessible. They’re dangerous, though. They want to constantly kill me.We have a nice little open area here. I like it. I love this biome. This is one of my favorite biomes to build in. We have a nice pond. We have fish. Fish is a great food source. I think I’m going to tower upwards and see what we’ve got to work with because this might just be like a perfect spot to set up base camp to start off with.Let’s build up super high. It looks like we have a lot of spruce. This is a great spot. I like this spot. The biomes a lot larger. We have mountains over there as well. This is awesome.I reckon we’re going to set up here. I’m going to break these blocks back down. And I guess we should try to build a house cuz like I don’t want to be stuck inside a dirt hole.Let’s build the house here. Where will I build the house? Let’s build the house because we discovered the dog. Let’s build the house here. I’m trying to vision in my head.I don’t like how these creepers are glitched. And they’re also really hard to attack. We’re going to build base camp right in this beautiful spot. So, I’m going to place a dirt stack, and we’re going to get our axe. Not fall down that hole.We do need wool for a bed, so sheep. We’re going to craft an axe. I’m so glad they made copper more useful.Let’s chop down some of these trees. We will replant you. Don’t worry. Perfect. You can’t get apples from these trees. That might be a bit of a problem, but we’ll be okay.I’ve got a lot of ideas for this world. I want to try and make it so you guys can contribute to it as well and like, ask me to do stuff.I really appreciate all of your feedback in the comments.Need a shovel as well.Nothing against you chicken. I just need to cook you up cuz I’m about to starve to death.Put you guys in here. We’ve got the wood. We just need to make a shovel. Also guys, what’s your opinion on the brush? I just noticed there’s a brush. I haven’t ever come across anything I need to brush, but I’m sure maybe in this world we’ll come across something.Perfect. Let’s do this. My remote is crashing out again. Oh, we’re back.Amazing. This copper shovel is super duper fast. So, we’re going to make a nice little cozy house here. This is actually like perfect. Not in the hole. We’re not putting the house in the hole.Story time again. Going back into my law exam I recently did. I’m a marketing student, so this is like really out of my comfort zone. But it is actually such an interesting topic to look at.It’s really cool to know what kind of what you can do and what you can’t do with like content and stuff online, like repurposing that sort of stuff. It’s added a lot to my knowledge on like the marketing area. But yeah, so that took up a lot of my time and I also had heaps of assignments as well.Okay, hang on. Let’s use the tree to like set up the house. I don’t want to chop down like more wood. Let’s just build it up to there. We want a nice tall looking house. That looks good. That’s a good size for starting house. I think we’re going to need glass as well. So yeah, perfect. Now, going back to that, I keep on losing track. And then it hit me one day. I was like: Hang on, I should just try playing Minecraft the way I used to play it when I was way younger. Get a controller out and just actually start playing it again and super chill.I know this content is probably not going to work because the algorithm focuses on providing a certain type of format, but I feel like in the long run, this content will be really good.I used to watch a lot of creators online when I was way younger and I loved watching. It was really cool being able to watch these creators grow. There wasn’t a lot of materials online or like AI or editing software that really gave you lots of editing tools to make the content we have today. And I’m not dissing that it’s bad, but styles do change over time. It’s just really interesting. It’s like nostalgic. It’s cool to just kind of relive it even with these old textures. We’re going to need a lot of wood, aren’t we? I’m sensing it’s turning nighttime. Let’s prioritize just getting as much wood as we can. I’m an idiot. I should have put torches everywhere. I don’t have coal.Watching creators that used like Xbox controllers as well was a lot easier because Xbox controllers don’t allow fast movement like a mouse. It’s a little more like easing on the eyes.Forgot how scary Minecraft was. When it turns nighttime, you get that horrible feeling that your character is going to die.Okay, let’s go back to the house and continue building.I think as long as there’s like a two layer, mobs won’t be able to keep an eye on us.I forgot. A spider’s friendly if you don’t hit them. I think it’s only during the day, but at night time they become violent.Perfect.Now I’m going to put the berry bushes here. This is really dumb because I’m hungry. The chicken’s in the furnace is all the way over there.I don’t have any coal to make another furnace. I shot myself in the foot. Now it’s safe to go in the water. Wait, there’s drowns. There are drowns. Get out of the water. They come out of the water at night, don’t they? Holy moly.Looks like we’re on the run. There is a skeleton. I prefer you not to shoot me. We might be able to get some bones off you.Two bones and two arrows. They’re generous. I’m so dead.Grab the chicken. Run underground.Oh, it’s a baby cow. We’re not going to kill you because it’s too cute. We’re going to put maybe some more grass at the front.Let’s cook you up and finish putting in this wood.I kind of want to protect that cow. Enemies can’t kill the cow, can they?Excuse me, cow. Come on. Yes. Yes. Yes. You’re going the right way.I think I just witnessed a glitch around the wall. Did that glitch around the wall? It exploded.Of course we die.Why are there three black sheep in my house? I’m so confused.Where’s my sword? I mean, I can make enough bed. I can make a bed. But I’m so confused.Where did that drown go? Were there three sheep? I only have two wool. We’re going to just have to eat the rotten flesh.Let’s get some more berries. Berries are always good. This house does not look great at all. It is a first house. Please don’t judge me.Let’s just do a cobblestone roof. And a stone cutter is more efficient for cobblestone house. I don’t know how to craft a stone cutter, so let’s just get some of this.My screen is frozen. Wait, what? Don’t disconnect. Okay, I should probably fix that up. I shouldn’t have split I shouldn’t have broken my Wi-Fi modem just to record this. We’re going to just put some slabs over here.Let’s give this roof lower. We don’t want extra stuff.Oi, oi oi. You stay right over there, Mr. Skellyy.Okay, we’re doing well. There’s probably a way more efficient.Actually, no, there is a more efficient way. You just click in front of the block like that. That is so cool.Hop back up. We’re going to do that last trip.Excuse me, Mr. Creeper. Hey, we got a pet pig as well in our house. Perfect.I keep on forgetting about that creeper that has gone missing. It better not be in the house. We have our pet pig who wants to join us upstairs.I think I just witnessed a fox also kill a sheep. I forgot how complex this game was.I really really want to tame a fox, but I know you can’t.Where is this creeper? This creeper is playing games on me. We were so close. That’s a life lesson.Sometimes things pop up in your life that you don’t expect and it can take a long time to fix the things that pop up.But over time, if you have the right help and the right amount of resources to help, you can still get through that time. And I guess that’s the life lesson. My computer is freezing up again. It’s my controller. It’s all fixed now. We have a little chicken that just walked past us.Let’s just finalize this up. This isn’t going to look great, but as long as if we have a roof over our head, then we’re fine.I need to make some doors. I better make some doors so that we don’t have any imposters come in.Three doors. Amazing. We have a houseish. The floor is not ideal, and we do have like a fern growing in it, but we have a house.I did enjoy this video so much. I really want to continue this.If you did enjoy the series or the video, I guess cuz it’s not a series just yet. Please leave a like. Please comment your thoughts.Thank you so much for watching. Can’t wait to see you in the next video.
