Hey everybody, it’s UnderMyCap, and welcome back to another video! Today, I’m going to show you how to move fast in Minecraft with a simple command. This works on both Bedrock and Java Edition, so you’re in luck—this will work on basically any version of Minecraft! Let’s head over to a command block. Luckily, this is just one command, so it’s super simple. Depending on who you want to give this speed boost to, you can change it in the command. Essentially, what this command does is give you the potion of swiftness 24/7, meaning your player is constantly running fast. Without further ado, let’s get straight into it. I’m going to first type in the initial part of the command. We’re going to use “effect give,” and this is where you can choose who you want to give the effect to. If you want to give it to yourself, you can type in your name. If you want to give it to all players, you can use “@a” or “@e,” which includes everything like creepers and zombies—basically everyone will receive the speed effect. For now, I’m just going to give myself the speed effect. Interestingly, it’s not called “swiftness”; it’s simply called “speed,” but the potion is referred to as swiftness. So once we do that, we type “speed,” and then we can specify the amount of time we want. If you would like it to be a timed effect, you could say, for example, “60 seconds,” and then you’d get the speed effect for that duration. If you want it to be infinite, you can see an option for “infinite” here, which autofills it—that’s kind of new. If you don’t have that option, you can just type in a very large number. Next is the amplifier, where you can get a little creative. Let’s start off with a small amplifier—let’s do “1.” I’m going to set it to “repeat” and “always active.” You can see that I have the speed effect now. If I increase the amplifier just a little, my character becomes extremely speedy; I can hardly control it! Whoa! That’s very fast! I need to get back to the command block. For now, let’s keep the amplifier at one. The next part of the command is for controlling particle visibility. You might notice particles around you, which can be annoying if you want this to remain active 24/7. So, let’s set it to “true” for now. One thing to note is that having a very high effect given to you will override everything else. I recommend running the command “/effect clear” to reset it. If you prefer not typing commands, simply drink a bucket of milk, and that will reset your status. I’ve covered hiding particles, and you can also see that in the bottom left corner—or at the top left if you’re on a tablet—there’s constant spam from the commands. Let’s get rid of that, because it can be distracting. To disable this, you do not need a command block; just type in “/gamerule,” followed by “commandBlockOutput.” Remember to capitalize the correct letters, and then type “false.” This stops the command blocks from sending you constant notifications about the speed effect. Now we get a permanent speed boost! I’ll set it to five for now, and you can see I’m moving very quickly. A very important point about using command blocks is that you need to be within range for it to activate continuously, and the chunks need to be loaded. I recommend setting it to a high number or infinite, so once a player interacts with the command block, they can leave, and the effect remains active. As with any effect, if you die, you will lose the speed boost. Therefore, it’s best to keep it set to infinite or ensure you are within range to activate it whenever you need.
