Finishing The Crop Farm: Building a Natural Minecraft Farm With a River

Hey everybody, it’s on my cap and welcome back to part two of building that farm. Unfortunately, as you saw in the last episode, my controller just completely died. So, today we are going to be finishing this farm area.Now, you can see the grass has grown over, but we’re going to have like a river through here. Which I think will be cool cuz that will like water the crops. And we’ll also keep these trees in this area as well cuz I think that will keep it like a nice addition, like just having some trees in the in the crop area. But we need to make more fences. So, let’s do that really quick. I’m going to grab some of these. We need as many of these as possible. Perfect. 25 fences. I feel like you used to be able to get a lot more fences for wood and sticks, but that’s okay.So we’re going to put this down like this. Was that a creeper or something like this. We don’t want like mobs and stuff to be able to walk over it. So, just trying to make it natural. There’s vines here. I don’t know. Vines grew on grass blocks. That’s very interesting. Um, but let’s do that. Also get rid of these dirt blocks here. They’re a little bit odd.Oh, and it literally broke. Perfect timing. So, I think that the farm land will go to the water, maybe. So, we don’t need to put a fence in the water, but we can certainly just stop it here. Maybe mobs can still walk around it, but it doesn’t really matter. We’ll put a torch right here. And now we have kind of almost closed off this area. Um let’s put the fence here.Like this. We basically just don’t want any mobs to walk in the area because we want to make sure that our food’s protected. So we’ll do this. Uh we have 21 sticks and we need to craft some more wood. I reckon 30 might be good. Okay, let’s try this. So, we have 30 of this.Now, there will be a problem of like trying to walk through the area because obviously now I’ve just blocked off like an entire zone, but we can kind of just jump around it. Like, you can see like or kind of it kind of works. It kind of doesn’t work. And also, there’s going to be zones where the water won’t reach it. So, we’re going to have to fix that a little bit, but that’s okay.Now, we need to get some seeds. And I have an idea. We have some bones. So, I think if I make some bone meal like this, we can bone meal the area and then just chop it all. We also get some flowers as well, which is kind of nice.Bone meal. Do that again. Oops, that’s not the right tool. I don’t remember if this gives you seeds or not. I think it is giving me seeds. Oh, yeah. There we are. We are getting some seeds. Um, is this the most effective way to get seeds? I don’t know if you guys know a better way to get seeds in the future. Let me know because it seems like I’m only getting one seed per bone meal.Well, this one might not even be anything. Yeah, there’s nothing. Just lots of flowers. They’ll be useful later, I’m sure. Okay, let’s see. We have a total of 11 wheat seeds.You don’t want these. Yeah, they’re pests. Uh we’ve got a total of that. So, we’re going to need to start growing the seeds. Now, these drowns are going to be a pain as well because we don’t actually block the drowns from like being able to come in. So, that will be okay.But for now, we need to get some iron and more seeds. Um, but I think maybe the priority is just make a hoe and then just hoe the ground. Really don’t want to have to craft a wooden one, but Oh, stone. Can we craft a stone hoe? We literally only have one cobblestone. Um, I’m sure we can get some more cobblestone. Like I just can’t mentally craft a wooden a wooden hoe. You know what? We’re going to craft a wooden hoe. It doesn’t matter.Let’s go here. Craft a. Oh, I can craft a copper hoe. Yeah, let’s let’s do a copper one. That was probably not really smart because now I don’t have a sword. Oh well, priorities.Uh let’s put um some crops. Where’s the river’s going to come through here? Let’s put some like harvest in here like this.Sorry, guys. We’re going to need Oh, seeds. Thank you. Like this. Amazing. Put some seeds in. Look at that. That is looking amazing already.Look at this. I just realized I might actually be jumping on them because I’m going to have to like jump up. That might be a problem. That might be a very big problem. Oh, we’ll solve it. We’ll solve solve it when we get to that.Um, let’s harvest these berries.But yeah, so if we want to put water in our river, we will need a bucket. And to get a bucket, we need iron. So, I’m going to quickly get some stuff together to go mining.We do have more copper. That’s okay. Um, that stuff. I do need to put some stuff away because it’s a little bit messy. So, all the nature stuff goes in here. Keep the berries. Does rotten flesh. Oh, yeah. Rotten flesh. Um, ores. Do we have any ores? Nope. I don’t know what goes in there yet. This is kind of like the stuff from mobs, maybe.And wood. Let’s just chuck slabs. Okay, let’s let’s make one for like stone and stuff. Put stone in here. Uh wool is a different category. I reckon wool goes in here as well as lead and that they’re like all things that mobs drop. Door can go in the wood barrel wherever that one is. Wooden door. We don’t need the wooden tools.Dirt. Oh, and we want to make some torches before we go down. I don’t know why I went here, but I’m glad I did because we have some yummy steak.We’ll go through here now. We need to Oh, it was torches. I’m crazy. Need to get the um Oh, we don’t have anything. Okay. Well, let’s just burn some wood. Let’s burn some wood like this. And we can make some torches.Uh, you know what? Let’s just put some dirt here. I don’t want to lose all the dirt, but it’s useful to have dirt. Um, the wood barrel. Let’s put this in here.We do not need a stone sword. Put that in the stone barrel, which was this one, I think. Oh, actually, you know what? I’m building. Uh, we should probably have that one cuz I feel like this copper one is going to definitely get destroyed. So, we’re going to switch that out.And let’s get some of this. Amazing. And we need our crafting table, which I’ve conveniently placed all the way outside, of course, cuz it would make it so much easier.So, this is like the problem. There’s I’m going to need to make it so I can like easily get in and out of this farm. I feel like I’ve done a bad plan of this farm, but that is a.Okay, so we have some torches. We have a little bit of food and we have this. I reckon we’re good for mining now. We just need to find a mine. So, let’s look around. I think there is one like around here or something.Also, any chance we like sea grass, we do need to mine it to get like seeds. Um, I like all these flowers. We probably don’t want all of these berry bushes.And actually, while I’m at it, let’s just place some of these out. Of course, it’s turning nighttime as well. Not good timing, is it? Oh, hang on. Maybe it is good timing. We have found a cave with a creeper in it.Oh, okay. Okay. Surely that creeper Wait, can you explode by a crouch? Will you? No. No. Oh gosh. Okay, that’s okay. That’s okay.So, there’s a few things that we can get. We need some coal, definitely. So, let’s just mine some of this coal. I also saw copper, so we’re going to get that as well because I want to have more copper tools.I actually think copper is really useful now. Like, super useful. The fact that we have tools now to use copper. Sorry, the I can’t even talk. It’s good now that we have a use for copper because we need more uses for it. Like I remember when it first came out I was just I didn’t know what you really needed copper for. Like you could just make it spy glass or something. Um but now it seems really cool and it looks like we’ve got even more copper as well.So I don’t mind if I do. I’m going to take as much as I can. Um, I do notice this pickaxe does wear out super fast though, which is annoying, but that is okay for now.So, let’s get this copper. It’s also cool that copper drops a lot more like scraps at the same time. Like, you can see we get heaps and heaps of it just from like one single block. Like, we get like three pieces, I think. Unless it’s like an average number, like a random number.So we got copper. I remember I saw some more over here. Let’s get that copper right now. That was only a tiny amount. I mean, a tiny amount of copper is still is still a really good amount.Now, there’s a skeleton down there. I don’t have a shield or anything. I think I’m just going to have to drop. I reckon we charge attack. Yeah, we’re charging. That’s not a good idea, is it? Jeez.Okay, let’s put some more torches down because I don’t want any enemies to spawn down here. This is spooky. It’s actually This cave is pretty cool. It’s like staircase, though. Um does get blocked off.What’s down here? Is it a dead end? Surely it’s not a dead end. Surely it connects to something else.Also, can we craft more torches? We can’t. Oh, yes, we can. We need some more torches cuz I need to be able to see. Did I Oh, no. I crafted the sticks. I was trying to figure out like what I did. Okay, 24 torches. I think that is a absolute perfect amount. So, let’s just put these down.I’m going to keep on following this gap because I feel like it’s going to connect. Oh, see what did I tell you? It connected to something. It connected to like a water lapis. What?Wait. Okay. I’m not used to the new like building and stuff. Wait. So, how far down is everything? Oh, that looks spooky.Okay, let’s just get this lapis. I’m going to like do that tip. Okay, we got one. We got another one. Can we get some more? Amazing. Look at all Look how nice this lapis is.Okay, so this is interesting. I’m trying to figure out. You need to crouch, don’t you? If you get sucked down, you just crouch. Crouch.Oh, okay. So, on controller, you seriously just have to keep on pressing that. The crouching’s really weird. It’s really weird here.So the iron was here. There. Come on. We need iron. Oh, this is such a slow process. Actually, I should have kept that door, shouldn’t I? That door would have been really useful.Get some more oxygen. Oh, we need to swim back. Swim back. Swim back. Eat some berries under water cuz that’s how it works.Could you imagine if you could breathe under water like this? This is such an interesting mechanic. Okay, let’s see if we can get some more iron.Okay. Can we do this again? Oh, we’re cutting it close. Okay, swim, swim, swim, swim, swim, swim. No.Oh gosh. Okay, we got just a little bit more iron to go. Stop swimming. Why am I swimming still?Okay, no, that didn’t work. We need to get more oxygen. So, I think if I bring one of these over, maybe if I bring one and I stand on it and mine at the same time, that should work, right? Yes. There we are. That’s cool. Okay, we’ve got oxygen. It’s a little bit of a weird thing, though. I have to keep on pressing down on the controller.Got more. How much iron is here? Oh gosh. Oh, hang on. Oh, this is really dangerous. Wait, if I mine this, I might be able to get some oxygen, I think. There we are. Okay, we got some oxygen.So, as long as we do that, we’re fine. I think that we are good. We’ve got enough iron. I’m going to swim out because I don’t want to die. Is that coal? No. Okay. I do not want to die. This is quite dangerous.I don’t like how it sucks you down there. Okay, let’s get out of this mine like this.I think it’s going to be nighttime, so we’re going to just have to quickly run back to the house.Do we get a lot of cobblestone? Like yep. Okay, we got cobblestone as well, which is good. So, let’s just jump out of here.Now, there is a creeper right there. So we do not want that creeper. Oh, okay. Uh, this is a really scary situation.Okay, going to say we don’t want that creeper to destroy us. Let’s get out of this cave.Okay, let’s see. Can is it easier to just Can I do this? Oh, hang on. I’m going to block myself in. Jump up here. And perfect. Look, it’s daytime. We literally just missed the entire night.So, let’s go this way. Eat some more berries and jump around here. Do our crops look like they’ve grown a little bit? That’s kind of cool.Um, so let’s try to neaten out a little bit of this cuz I did realize that if we’re going to be jumping up a lot, that might be a problem. I think we’re okay.So, I’m going to start smelting that iron so we can get a bucket and then we can start putting stuff in. Oh, okay. Good.And while we’re at it, let’s see if we can get more seeds. Do we have more bones? Yes, we have more bones. So, let’s just make some bone meal. Like this. And first of all, let’s just get this. Actually, it’s probably better to use bone meal on the actual crop to make seeds, right? Because they will always guarantee drop seeds, I’m pretty sure. Is that right? One, two, three. Yeah.Well, it drops some seeds, so we’ll see. So, that do these one. One, two. Oops. Three seeds. Three. That one. Hang on. I don’t think they’re fully grown. One, two, three. There. There we go. We got three seeds from that one.Okay. Let’s see if we can get any more bone meal cuz I think that will be quite useful. Bones are in which chest? I think it’s this one here. Oh, we have one bone. Okay, that’s not going to help. All right, that’s fine.Let’s get a bucket. So, we got our iron, which is very cool. I’m going to take it all. Actually, let’s just take it all like this.And let’s craft a bucket. Now, I forgot how infinite water sources work, but it should be okay. I’m pretty sure. So, we just grab the bucket like this, and we go down to the water like that. And then we put the water in like that.Oh, yeah. You can see it’s like kind of working. So, we’ll just flow the water. So, like one here, and then we need a third one, I think. Like here. Is that okay? Yep. So, that evens out.Then we can use this water here and we just put the water in. As long as it looks a bit like a waterfall. That’s looking a bit odd.Uh, do we have any more dirt that we can like just fill this area in? Yes. Put some there. Yeah. Okay. So, that’s that. And then water up here. Need some more water. Some here. Oopsies.And perfect. Look, we’ve got a waterfall. And then let’s grab some more water. Come all the way over here. And we can just start filling this area out.So, put some there. We need one more water bucket like here. I think that should create like a natural water source. Is that right? If we just do that. Yeah, there we are. Okay, perfect. Just keep on filling this entire area out.Look at this. Already looking so cool. Yeah, we will need to fill this area out a little bit better, but that’s okay. We will just do that.So, like that. More water. Can’t tell if this is working or not. I think did I double that up? There we Okay, so we put some there, some there. Yeah, we wouldn’t have to fix that up. That’s fine.But for now, let’s just fill this little area out. Perfect. Okay, so that looks fine. That looks fine. Look at this. We’ve got like a cool little like river thing that comes through.This looks odd. This looks odd. Can we fix this a little bit? Like if we do this and then this. There we go. And then we break these again. Perfect. Look at that. Amazing. We have a little waterfall that comes down through here.Maybe if we just make this look a little bit less awkward. Oh, hang on. Do we have any more? We will need to fix that. That’s okay. I mean, it gives us a way out, but that’s that’s odd looking.But for now, we now just need to bow most of this and then crop it. So, I forgot how far away from water you have to have something like you have to have a water source. So, let’s see. This is like a perfect test right here. Will this one stay hold? I don’t think it will. One, two, three, four. I think it has to be four.Um, we’ll see though. So, let’s just do everything around these areas, then we can figure it out. So we’ll have this little area hoe. Actually, will this work? Will that work?So, like you can see the idea here. Like the idea is that the crops will be like all covering this area here. That looks really cool. And then yeah, it’s like a more natural type of farm. And I can put more stuff around it as well, but I think this looks kind of kind of cool.Oh, did that not did that not work? Do we have any disappearing? I don’t think so.Um but now let’s just grab this torch here and let’s put the torches on this wall like this. I reckon that looks good right now.I took on some of you guys feedback. Uh, someone told me that I should up the frame rate and I didn’t realize I was recording in 30 frames a second. So, now we’re at 60 frames a second. So, hopefully this is a little bit better. Um, but for now, still give me feedback if the quality is not great.Wow, look at this. This is really nice. Wow, look. That’s so cool.Okay. Torches wires, let’s just put some torches out. So because we actually don’t have a lot of crops, we’re going to have to slowly collect seeds and then put them in. But for now, I think this actually looks really nice. We have this little bit. We have some trees in the area.If you look at the house, we have like the main house part and then we have this like cool little like rivery bit. And it looks like it does get like in reach of the water. So, I’m going to put out a little bit more.I don’t know how this will work, but I reckon we can do like a third one out. Oh, it broke. Do we have enough for another item? Actually, let’s just get our copper items cuz we got heaps of copper. We can make copper items for days. We just need to smelt it all.So, put it in this one. Come back over. Look at this. Okay, hang on. Let’s Oh, I just wasted the bone meal on a. No, I didn’t. I got some seeds. Okay, that’s fine. Uh let’s put the seeds in. Also, do I damage the crops when I fall on it like that? I do. Okay, that’s really frustrating. That’s okay. Um, let’s put that in. Oh, that’s going to be annoying as well.Now, this is looking fun. Actually, I should put berry bushes. This might actually make me go nuts, though, if I put berry bushes around the edges. But I reckon I should put some berry bushes in. Like it can just be like a natural berry bush section of the farm as well.So like if we do this, I reckon that’s cool. Like just around the edges maybe like that. That could be cool. Like it just adds to the area. Uses the natural foliage from the area. Look at that. That’s so cool.Okay, so we have like we have some berry bushes. I need to put some crops around here. Um actually, I’m going to relocate this crafting table now because I think we’ve finished mainly using it to build.So, I’ll put that out the back. Uh oh. It looks like my controller is disconnecting again. We’re going to going to reconnect. Yep. Okay, good.Uh so, let’s just jump over this fence. Oh, no. We’re going to have to re jump. Perfect. Come back through here.I’m going to sleep. And we jump back up. Good morning. Looks like a perfect day.So, I am going to grab a another hoe. So, let’s just get this. Grab a hoe.So, you know what? Let’s just spoil ourselves. I made myself some boots. Got some nice fancy copper boots. They might protect us a little bit. But, we need to get a whole bunch of seeds.So, let’s see. I’m going to harvest the sugar cane as well. While we’re at it, we need to find some seeds. And I’m not too sure what the best option is.Also, we have like literally no food. That’s a big problem.Um, but I really just need to find like a field of like plants like here. I think you get like a higher chance of getting seeds if you cut stuff down with a with a hoe. I think we’ll see.So, we’ve got some seeds over here. That’s a fern, I think.Oh, no. You can. Okay. I also need to make sure I don’t get lost because I guarantee I will get lost 100%.Uh, let’s get these berry bushes as well. That’s a good way to get some food in our system, but we won’t get rid of them all just in case uh we need to get some berries in the future.Interesting. Another like river cave. Oh, hang on. Am I lost? I’m not lost, am I? It’s back this way.As long as we can get seeds. We’re good. We’ve only got nine seeds.Uh where is our house? There. Okay, I’m going to be smart. Oh, we have a sheep as well. Hello, sheep. Oh, we’ve got quite a few actually.Need more seeds, please.More seeds. This place looks good for seeds. Let’s get this hoe out and see how many seeds we can get.Uh, sorry, fox. I thought I thought I hit the fox. No seeds. Oh, no. There we are. Some more seeds. Perfect.There’s no other biomes really. I was expecting to find like a plains or something with like lots of just bushes or like like uh grass I could like harvest, but it doesn’t look doesn’t look like it though.Um Oh, hang on. I need to keep on putting the torches down. Where’s the other torch? Oh gosh.Oh gosh. This is not good. Uh follow the river. That’s what I’m thinking. We follow this river, I think. I really hope. Oh gosh.Oh gosh. I’ve not just lost the house, have I? It has to be along this river. I think that’s it. It’s good having a river because we can find where we are.Is that my house? Yes. Okay. So, I should just travel along the river. Honestly, that’s probably the safest option really because you won’t get lost. You just follow the river home.Perfect. Well, I think we were quite successful. We got 19 wheat seeds. We also got a lot of berries as well from all of that harvesting, but that seems quite good. And eat some of these up.Awesome.And jump over here. So, we’re going to start off with just planting some of the seeds over here. Um, so let’s just do that. And then I guess with the episodes, we can just put more in. But I think so far we’ve done like an absolute awesome job.Look at this. So, we have this awesome farmland right over here. We’ve made like this water fall thing. It is looking a little bit messy, but I mean it’s still it looks pretty cool.Um, we have like this river that goes through. We have trees. We have berry bushes. Um, I should put some like berry bushes along the house as well. Let’s do that.Oh, you put them on top of I don’t know. You could do that. Can I Oh, that must be a bug cuz you can’t. Okay.
