Minecraft Let’s Play Episode 2: Taming a New Pet Wolf and Base Upgrades in Survival Minecraft

Minecraft Let’s Play Episode 2: We Tamed a New Pet Wolf!

Welcome back to another exciting Minecraft let’s play episode! In this second installment of our survival series, we jumped straight back into our world, fixed up some creeper damage, tamed an adorable new dog, and gave our little starter house a much needed makeover. If you love cozy Minecraft survival content, you are going to enjoy this one.

Repairing the Creeper Damage

Not the best way to start an episode! We came back to find a minor creeper explosion had damaged a couple of spots on the house. Thankfully it was only a small bit of repair work, so we patched things up and got back on track. The lesson here is simple: we need better lighting to stop enemies from spawning too close to home.

Lighting Up the Area

Torches became our number one priority. With the newer Minecraft lighting updates, mobs only spawn in areas that are pitch black, so placing plenty of torches around the house and across the river helped keep the monsters away. We crafted a big batch of 16 torches and spread them far and wide to keep our base safe.

One handy trick we used was placing torches under the ground by digging out dirt, popping a torch in, and covering it back up. It keeps the area lit while looking clean and tidy.

Taming Our New Dog!

The highlight of the episode was finally taming a wild wolf! With four bones in hand, we managed to tame an adorable pup complete with a bright red collar. He is one of the default dog skins, which looks super cool. Now we just need a name for him, and we would love your suggestions in the comments. Something like Archer maybe? Keep those name ideas coming and keep them positive!

Building a Better Home

Our starter house got a proper upgrade in this episode. Here is what we worked on:

  • Added a neat cobblestone slab floor to save on resources
  • Installed glass windows for a brighter, cozier feel
  • Set up a storage wall using barrels to sort our food, ores, and wood
  • Planted berry bushes at the front for a natural look and a handy food source

We also want to add a little carpet spot for our new dog once we gather more wool. He already made himself right at home on the bed!

Discovering Firefly Bushes

One of the coolest new features we found were the brand new firefly bushes! These light up the area beautifully at night and even spawn little fireflies automatically. We placed some near the river to give our base a magical nighttime glow. The animation on them is absolutely stunning.

Dealing with Drowned and Creepers

Our river is a great fishing spot, but it does come with a downside: drowned mobs kept climbing out of the water and giving us a fright. Combined with a few pesky creepers who really do not seem to like us, survival was a bit tense. Lighting up both sides of the river helped keep the spawns under control.

A Little Life Update

On a personal note, we shared some exciting news in this episode. After a long seven month application process, we finally landed a brand new job at a sport and fitness place. Everyone there is amazing, so life is looking busy but bright. Thank you all for being part of this journey!

Wrapping Up Episode 2

By the end of the episode, our little base was looking so much better with windows, lighting, storage, a food source, and of course our brand new furry companion. Diving back into Minecraft has been so much fun, and there is plenty more adventure to come.
